TL;DR: We now offer Wordpress programming which you can resell to increase your revenue.

Technology X and Buzzword Compliance

Sometimes it just doesn’t seem to matter what you do.

You write a better proposal, demonstrate a greater return on revenue, show how your expertise and toolset allow you to build solutions faster and cheaper than your competition… And still, your client says no.  Why? Because they’ve heard Technology X is the best and they should be using that.

Your plan is better, but that doesn’t matter.  No amount of evidence will change your client’s mind.  Facts and logic be damned, everyone else is using Technology X and they want to as well.

This is because they’re making the emotional decision and not a logical one.

What is Technology X?  It’s the latest framework, library, or technology.  Back when we started it was XML. Everyone wanted XML.  They didn’t really know what it was or what they were going to do with it, they just knew they wanted it.

Often called buzzword compliance, a tongue-in-cheek expression that suggests a particular technology is desired simply because it’s currently fashionable and in-vogue, not because a thoughtful examination of the available options indicates it’s the best solution for a particular problem.

This can be incredibly frustrating for you as the developer. You’re using your knowledge and expertise to recommend tools and solutions to provide the best value to your client, but they’re trying to force a technology on you.  They’re tying one hand behind your back. It’s like insisting your carpenter only use nails because everyone knows nails are better than screws, and what do carpenters know anyway?

“Will it use WordPress?”

We’ve heard from many of you that the buzzword you’re hearing the most these days is WordPress.  And it’s easy to understand why: with Wordpress having the largest share of the market you’re likely to be asked about it more than anything else.

So how do you win over a client who wants Wordpress and nothing but?  You offer it to them.

What? Did we just say that?  Yes, we did.

Starting today, when a client asks if you can build their project in Wordpress, you can say yes with the full confidence of knowing you’ve got our entire team of senior programmers behind you.

This will instantly transform your client’s mindset from choosing between you and your competitor to choosing between the different options you’re offering them.   You’re now offering something your competitor isn’t, not the other way around. This makes it easier for your client to evaluate your proposal based on its merits, not on buzzwords. In their mind, it gives your recommendations more credibility.

And what if they still want Wordpress?  We can help you build that site, make it great, and earn that extra revenue from your client.  We now offer programming and development for both CMS Builder AND Wordpress.

We’re here to help

We can help you write technical proposals (at no charge), make updates, or build complete sites from the ground up - with either system.

We built CMS Builder because it lets us deliver faster, lower-cost projects with a much more user-friendly interface.  But it doesn’t matter how good our software or solutions are if end-users don’t get to use them.  The best solution is one that your client is actually willing to pay for and use.

If you know that some clients will ONLY choose Wordpress then you can choose to ignore those clients...or adapt and provide them with the best solution you can (even if it doesn’t include all of our own favorite technologies).

Why are we doing this?

While we at Interactivetools are still dedicated to offering CMS Builder as a fast, powerful, and easy-to-use CMS platform, we are equally dedicated to helping you and your clients find the best-fit solution for any particular project. And whether that solution is WordPress or CMS Builder, we want to provide you with the same high level of service and support.

We were building content management tools four years before WordPress even existed. Reliable, easy-to-use software has been our bread and butter ever since we launched our first CMS almost twenty years ago. We have a unique perspective, we aren’t chasing a fad - we understand the strengths and weaknesses that these different platforms offer. We can help guide a project to the one that will best serve its needs, and help you and your clients create websites that are effective in accomplishing whatever your business goals may be.

So whether your clients want CMS Builder, or Wordpress, we’ve now got you covered both ways, and you’ll never have to worry about losing to a competing CMS platform again.

Thanks for reading.  If you like the way we think, we’d love to work with you.
