Private Message in simple forum plugin?

Any plans to implement a PM (private messaging) system in the Simple forum plugin? Or any hints on how I could implement it myself?
Could it be as simple as allowing a user to mark his reply as private ... and then private replies are only visible to admins, original poster, and the replier?

No, we actually had that on our previous forum (different software) and we didn't like how it was used. If you were going to build it I'd just think of it as an independent component. At a minimum, you'd have a "Private Messages" table with fromUserNum, toUserNum, message, readByRecipient, message, etc.
