Hello,
I have been working on a site with its IP address. Now I want to use the domain name.

I login into the      Admin > General Settings using the IP

I get to the general settings page.

Where ever was the IP address before I have pasted the domain name.

The only problem is.

In Admin >>>>>> General Settings Directories & URLs  >>>>>  Program Url

I past my domain name over the ip address in Program Url  and click save only for it not to be saved.

Can anyone tell me as to how I can change it from the IP address please.

regards

Kenny

Sorry I wasn't more clear.

Connect to your site via FTP with your FTP software. Go to the folder that you have CMS Builder installed in. Probably /cmsb/ or /cmsAdmin/.

Inside this folder you will find the /data/ folder and in this folder will be the settings.dat.php file. Right click on the setting.dat.php file and set the CHMOD settings to 777.

This should fix the issue. If it doesn't, can you send in a support request so we can take a look:

Thanks!

I was having a read of this as well

http://support.hostgator.com/articles/cpanel/how-to-change-permissions-chmod-of-a-file

HostGator does not allow 777 on files which process server-side (i.e. PHP). However, many scripts require you to change your files to 777.

I would never have looked in there for it as I thought it would be else where. Any way I did change the permissions tried it but no it didnt work. I also tried changing the permission on the /data/ folder as well same time but that didnt work either.

I will email support as you mentioned.

No problem. Try CHMOD 755.

Hi twocans,

There's some code that auto-detects program url changes and updates it automatically.  Is the /path/ after the ip or domain different for each install?  And can you try accessing the admin menu from the domain?  See if it auto updates when accessed from the domain or lets you save it there.

I suspect what's happening is you are manually updating it, it's detecting the URL it's being accessed on isn't the one you entered and it's auto updating itself back to the correct one.

Let me know how it goes!
