Email notification of listing changes

Hi all,

We are in the process of a rewrite of one of our sites which uses CMSB quite heavily, we also currently use Article Manager 2.1 which we had a bit of trouble getting used to in the early days in respect of design layouts etc. Our usage of Article Manager never reached the anticipated depth of requirement and now only has a couple of used categories.

My question is if we are looking to create a simple news facility would we be better to create simple blog type pages in CMSB rather than utilising Article Manager or does Article Manager still provide functionality which (with only very basic CMCB Knowledge and understanding) would be difficult to replicate with CMSB despite Article Manager now being discontinued? for example Article manager can be set to email alerts when new articles have been added or amended, how easy would this be to implement into CMSB accounts or records. We obviously dont want to spend money on having facilities written in CMSB which we already have in Article Manager if Article Manager still represents the best choice for the job in hand.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice provided.

Re: [willydoit] Email notification of listing changes

Hi Willydoit,

I don't know how article manager works.

Does it send an email to everyone subscribed or just to specific individuals for approval, etc.?

For alerting individuals there are some interesting free plugins here on the forum that might get you going, like the ones in this post: http://www.interactivetools.com/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=77560

For a list, one idea might be incorporating RSS feeds in the design.

Re: [gkornbluth] Email notification of listing changes

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for responding to my query,

In Article Manager you have the option in each user account to select tick boxes which send an alert email to that user whenever the conditions are met, ie a new article posted, an article deleted, article modified etc, all we would want to have happen is for the overall admin account to receive notifications each time a user updates or posts a listing in order that we can review the article without having to constantly check the site for any new articles.

Hope that clarifies.
