I have finally gotten back to working on CMSbuilder (1.27).

I went through the tutorial AGAIN. With the same result. The News page loads but the dtails pages do not. This is REALLY frustrating.

I have completed this tutorial several times with the same result. (http://www.interactivetools.com/docs/cmsbuilder/in_depth_getting_started.html)

I load newsList.php, it loads fine. I click on the newsDetail.php link and I get:404 not found.

Help, please.

thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris

Thanks for posting!

You'll need to make sure you actually have a file on your server called newsDetail.php. This isn't something the program creates for you.

By default, your newsList.php page should look for the newsDetail.php in the same folder.

Make sure you have that file and let me know :). If you are still having trouble, could you post a link to your newsList.php page?

Thanks!

Ross,

Yes, I have both files in the same folder on the server.

Hi, Jokerboy -

Your list and detail pages seem to work normally. However, I think the problem is the links from those pages. Currently the link form the Detail page (for example) is pointing at...

http://www.holdingbin.com/newsDetail.php?news-story-03-3

In fact the link should point at...

http://www.holdingbin.com/cmsbuilder_1_27/newsDetail.php?3

or

http://www.holdingbin.com/cmsbuilder_1_27/newsDetail.php?news-story-03-3

You'll notice that the /cmsbuilder_1_27/[/#ff0000] part of the link is missing rom the first example. Go into your Section Editor and edit your Viewer URLs accordingly - by adding /cmsbuilder_1_27/ to the path.

Hi.

Perch beat me to it. Try adjusting those links and we'll see where that gets us.

Thanks!

That worked. Now what I do not understand is why the whole story is shown on the newsList page. Shouldn't it just be the summary and then the full story on the link?

thanks,
