Ordering fields when building section editor

When one is creating a new section and adds a new field to a section editor, the field is always generated at the bottom of the section's list.

When a section editor (table) has many entries(columns), it becomes a nuisance to have to drag the newly created field into the desired position in the editor.

Is there some way to dictate from the outset where the new field should appear in the editor's list?

Hi pgplast,

I don't think there is (Daniel will probably have a trick up his sleeve though)

For now, there's a recipe in my CMSB Cookbook that will work to make the dragging of fields a little less tedious.

"Drag sort quickly to top (or bottom) of a field list, record list or image list Including moving by page"

Hope that helps,

Hi pgplast,

While it's not currently possible to "Quick Add" in a specific location, as of CMSB v3.52 the section editor does have an "Insert Field Here" feature. Hovering over a row in the field list will show a "(+)" along the right-hand side. Clicking this allows you to insert a field at that spot.

Hope that helps!

Sorry, I didn't know it was there either. However the information about it was in the changelog for V3.52 for all of us to find.

A great simple addition to the operation of the program that makes it more user friendly.

Thanks to all,
