I am a user of Listman for several years now and I am thinking of ditching listman for CMS Builder.

I will be using it for a used car site for several used car dealers & private parties post there used cars.
It must be able to do the following.

Private parties to sign up and post only 2 listings at a time. and it would be nice if they would expire after a set number of days.

I would create an account for dealers to post a pre determined amount of listings like 30 or 50 and so on.

Each dealer will have there own website theresite.com and there listings would be pulled from my site and displayed on there site hopefully with a search option.

I was reading in the auto add on about pages for salesmen can I modify and make new pages so those will be dealers and create new pages such as a index, contact us, our staff, location and so on?
That would be sweet to just handle everything in one application

Thank you in advance for any help

Hi wasatchcars,

The short answer is that you can do everything that you mentioned using CMS Builder. The devil (of course) is in the details.

Using the membership plugin you can set up any type of account sign-up procedure and access restriction you need.

You can design your pages to have any functionality that you require, including any type of search function.

There are a number of schemes that you can use to include custom branded pages from your site in the dealer's pages with only their information populating those pages.

My CMSB Cookbook http://www.thecmsbcookbook.com might be a good place to start your learning process.

The forum has a wealth of information available on how to solve a diverse number of programming challenges.

The programmers at Interactive Tools are always available to do some of the heavy lifting that you feel is above your skill level.

Best of all, CMS Builder comes with a money back guarantee, so there's not much to lose except for your time.

I'd say, "Go with it."

Hope that helps,

Hi,

Yes, it sounds like CMS Builder will be fit your needs. When creating user accounts, you can decide which sections they can have access to and how many records they can create in each section. You can also set expiry dates on the account.

The only part I'm unsure about is where you say "Each dealer will have their own website". Do you mean their own page on your site, or a completely different domain? The issue here is that one CMS Builder installation/license is good for only 1 website. You can certainly set it up so that each dealer could have their own profile page on your site, but you wouldn't be able to connect to your CMS Builder from their website.

Hope this helps clarify. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi,

There are two good places to start:

First, go through our online documentation for CMS Builder:
http://www.interactivetools.com/docs/cmsbuilder/

After that, you can check out this thread where we post links to useful tips and tutorials that have been posted in the forum:
http://www.interactivetools.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=85036#85036

After that, I would suggest starting to integrate CMS Builder into some pages, starting with the most basic ones until you start getting used to the software. If you ever run into any issues, the forum here is always a great resource.

Hope this helps
