Re: [Toledoh] Pseudo-fields

By Dave - April 30, 2010

Hi Tim,

We didn't get around to doing a video for this one but it is something we hope to do more of in future.

When linking two tables (such as having a pulldown in a product section that lets you select a company from a company section) it's often useful to use the num of the other record instead of the name. Because the record number will never change, but the name might.

The problem with that is sometimes you want to display the value and all you get is the number.

So basically if you've ever had a checkbox or list field that was outputting a number instead of the value (or label), you can use the pseudo-fields to get at the value.

Hope that makes sense. If you haven't had a setup like that yet then you will eventually, and when you do it's very handy.

Hope that helps!
