Re: [Maurice] next step cmsB

Hi Maurice,

Yes, I was following the keynote live and have kept a close eye on what Apple is up to for years. They have some pretty neat technology.

What's great about the iTouch/iPhone/iPad is they all run the Safari browser which is really pushing support for HTML5 and other web standards.

So we're seeing things like browser based geolocation (know where the user is without them entering a postal code), html5 video (flash not required), client side data storage and other amazing things.

I even saw video the other day for openGl 3d graphics in the browser (called webGL):

This would open the door for 3d games in a webpage.

Google is actually a big pusher behind all this as well. They want everything to run in the web (or the cloud) because that benefits them. They want their web apps and web pages to be viewable on any device, not just those from a specific vendor. Googlers are the ones who invented AJAX and made it popular with gmail and google maps.

They actually recently figured out how to make Google Voice run in the browser on the iphone!

Along side all this we have another browser war heating up, with a race to have the most CSS support, the fastest javascript, and figuring out how to run just about everything in the "cloud" as a web page. Even the latest browser extensions are now being written in standard HTML/CSS/JS.

Everything is moving onto the web, so the future for CMSB and web developers looks very bright!
