Oredered Lists

Hi,
I have a list ordered by oldest entries to newest. Can I change it so that the most recent dates in the list display first automatically?

I know this may be an odd subject but they are nice business owners, here's the page in question, http://www.litwillersimonsen.com/memorials_list.php

I'm planning to use CMS on other projects as well.

Thanks!

K

Hi K,

If you change the sort order for Memorials to be be "date DESC", the listings will sort most recent date to oldest date:

In CMS Builder:
Admin > Section Editors > Memorials
- click on the "Sorting" tab and in the "Order By" field enter "date DESC" (without the quotes).
- save and then take a look at the listings page.

The listings should now automatically sort correctly.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi and thanks,

When i did this, i got this message, "If used, dragSortOrder must be the first field in 'Order By'!"

Thanks,

Krista

I included a screen shot.

Hi Krista,

You won't be using "dragSortOrder" for Memorials so you can remove it :

- Admin > Section Editors > Memorials: erase "dragSortOrder" form the list.
- General tab: remove "dragSortOrder" from the "ListPage Fields"
- Sorting tab: remove "dragSortOrder" from the "Order By" field and add the date sorting
- click the "Save Details" button

That should be it. Let me know if that resolves it for you.

Damon,
Please see attached. You're saying to erase the Order field that I have highlighted in red outline? I'm being careful I just don't want to lose the list. Please confirm

Thanks

Krista

Hi Krista,

An image wasn't attached to your last post.

You do need to delete the dragSortOrder field (Order - Field Label) before changing the sort option to date.

If you are worried making a mistake, backup your database ( Admin > General Settings) and download a copy of your /schema/ files.
