User defined homepage content

Hi,

I'm trying to arrange a CMS Builder homepage so that its content can be changed by the user - straightforward enough, simply by setting a single page category to be published as /index.php.

My question is this; can I then make a homepage that also lists the content of a category such as news?

Or, looking at it another way, can I make the list page of the News section display content from a single article that the user can amend?

Thanks.

Hi there.

Thanks for posting!

You can have a content from a bunch of different sections all appearing on one page. You just need to make sure you have the viewer codes at the top of the page.

One thing to keep in mind is that it works best when they are all different list pages. Have a bunch of detail viewers on one page will need some extra work and doesn't end up being as flexible.

Let me know if that make sense and we'll go from there. Thanks!

Thanks, that sounds fine; so I can have my homepage and select list items from any group - that should put me where I want to be...

Can I use this setup to make it look as though I have subcategories too?

Hi Erin

Absolutely. You can have actual subcategories if you like too. So it's not just an illusion :).

Keep me up to date with how you are making out :).

Yup. There's been categories in the last few versions. Make sure you are using the latest and then do some searching in the forum. There are plenty of threads. Just a matter of deciding which way you want to do it all.

That's great Ross thanks, I've got the homepage configured so that the user can update the homepage - as always with your software achieving it was easier than I'd expected!

Now, I've used Interactive Tools software on a few sites in the last few years; it's not the right place to ask this I know, but can the same be done in AM2? I've always coded the homepage content...I'd rather pass over control of text changes.

Thanks again.

Hi.

If you created a new category called Homepage, added a Category Content field to the category table, then you will have some options.

If you'd like more details, would you mind posting to the Article Manager forum?

Thanks!
