createdBy fields disappeared from inventory section view

Dave and Co,
I upgraded a v1.09 site to 1.22 CMSB...everything seemed to go well and everything seemed to function well. A few hours later, in two of the sections created (Inventory) (DealerInfo) the fields for createdByUserNum and createdDate have disappeared from the records section, but are visible in the admin>section editor>inventory and admin>secton editor>dealerinfo areas.
Any ideas?

More info...just added a new record to Inventory and it's fine. So, looks like issue is on all prior-upgrade records. Can I just convert the createdByUserNum field to a text field with a different name, put in a default entry, save it, then go back and convert the field by to a "none" type? Would that work?
