Hi chassa2556,

Were you referring to the menu within CMS Builder's interface, or the "Category Menu" section type that was added to CMS Builder recently?

Let us know what you were looking to set up or would like changed. [:)]

Hi Jake

Really I'm looking for a good effective solution so will take your advice but perhaps you could start with the Category Menu section included in with the CMSB package. I've been looking at your excellent walkthrough for new users but noticed there was nothing relating to this.

Hi chassa2556,

Thanks for getting back to me!

The "Category Menu" section type is an advanced beta feature at the moment and it still may undergo some changes, so there is only a brief mention of it in the documentation until it gets finalized.

We can use this to create your menu, but I'll need a few more details on what style of menu you wanted to create, and if you wanted it to 'link up' with any other sections on your site and so on. Did you need any submenus for this, or did you just need to create one level of menus? If you could provide me with as many details as you can about how you'd like the menu to work, that would be a big help. [:)]

Hi Jake

Basically I would be looking for a menu with one level of sub menus. So there would be Home Services News Sales and Contact. But under Services would be 'what we do', 'our philosophy' and maybe one more. The same in News we would want 'in the press'.

Would probably make the first level different multi page sections and then a child to that main section would be the sub level.

Hope this helps

I'm hoping to add support for category menus and pages in the next one or two releases. Hopefully soon! Jake might be able to help you with something in the meantime though.

Hi Jake

Could you give me a walkthrough on how to do this?

Either in this forum or as an addition to your indepth section of your tutorials.

I'm working on some new functions for this right now, so if we hold off for a day or two we should have something new.

Stay tuned.

Hi Dave,

I am also majorly interested in the menu system - how goes progress on this? If the navigation can be automatically generated from records in other tables that would be awesome, but I know this is probably a complex request.

I'm seeing for my customers that if they create a record and that is added to the navigation automatically and there is no second step to add it to the navigation, they and I will be thrilled. I know you are probably looking at adding sections only to the navigation but with sites like the 120 page site I'm working on now, I'm using records as pages which is working well.

Anyway, interested in seeing what you come up with. Keep up the good work.
