dragSortOrder has strange value

I have a table called cd_tracks that has about 30 records.

There are only two custom fields in the table, 'media' and 'track'.

The search type is set to dragSortOrder.

Both fields are list type. Each reference data in another table.

For some reason, when I look at the database, I notice that the column, dragSortOrder has normal looking number: 10, 20, 30, etc. for all records where that reference one particular media number and 10-digit numbers: ex. 1285020429, 1285020439, 1285020447, etc. for all records that reference another particular media number.

This looks kind of strange, so I thought I'd report it. Any reason why this might be happening?

Hi Jim,

That's actually working fine. If there isn't already a value for dragSortOrder, it is assigned a value based on a time stamp, that's why the numbers are so long.

Hope this helps.

I noticed the same thing today and was just about to post a question about stuffing the drag sort order field with my own imported values from a driver routing file that is already sequenced, but could possibly need re-sequenced for one reason or another. My sort sequence field is incremented by 10 so I assume that importing the sequence into the drag sort order field would work fine ... correct?

Hi rconring,

Yes, that would work fine. :)

I believe the numbers need to be at least 2 apart for the Create Record Here addon to work. We chose 10 for readability.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
All the best,
Chris
