autoBackup plugin questions

By Deborah - February 5, 2016

Hi, Interactive Tools.

I have been struggling with the autoBackup plugin with certain versions of CMS Builder. I'd like to start by making sure I understand what the plugin is designed to do, because maybe I don't have it right.

The plugin documentation states: "This plugin automatically creates backups of the database anytime the admin program or viewers are accessed.  It maintains a number of backups at hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly intervals and automatically removes old backup files."

So if I understand that correctly, is there no backup made for the intervals of time when an admin or editor does not log in to CMS Builder?

That answer will get me started in figuring this out.

Thank you!

Hi Deborah,

The latest version of the plugin (which requires at least version 2.60 of CMS Builder) runs every hour via the cron system, and doesn't require the admin to visit the CMS  for the backup to happen.

But version 1.03 of the plugin and all previous versions check if a backup needs making when an admin visits the CMS or there is a visitor to the site.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Cheers,

Greg
