Functionality enquiry

Guys - I see CMS Builder as a complete move away from standard CMS systems because of its ability to create content control of differing types whenever required. However some of my cients are still expecting some of the functions associated with "standard" systems.

The main one is content "approval". Many of my clinets want to give others the ability to make updates but to be able to approve them before they go live.

The other one would be "version control".

Is the simple answer that CMS Builder will never be able to carry out such functionality or are you going to surprise me with a "all your dreams are about to come true" answer :-)

Thanks in advance.

Geoff

Hi Geoff,

You can setup some basic approval by adding the field special fieldname "hidden" as a checkbox, giving it a default value of checked and making it an admin only field. That way when users create new records they'll be hidden by default until approved by the admin.

Some of the version control features are pretty advanced and complex. We have some ideas for some of them. They're a ways off though and not on the schedule yet.

One option is that if you have a client who is really keen on them and they have the budget for it we can always do them as custom programming. If you want to discuss that further feel free to email me at dave@interactivetools.com
