CMSB Install Question...

Hello -

Regarding installation of CMSB, when I ran admin.php (final installation step), I accepted the mysql server default of "localhost"...Is this ok?

I usually deal with a different hosting company, and I am given a mysql server name such as "db144.soandso.com"...

The hosting co. I had to use for this install gave me no db server name...The CMSB install went fine...Just curious as to whether this will haunt me later on down the line...

Thanks, Rick

Hi Rick,

Yep, it's no problem. localhost (and 127.0.0.1) is just a "loopback" address that means "the current server".

So on my machine at work I have mysql and cmsb installed and have localhost as the hostname. So no problems there. It may even be more portable since localhost always works (and points to the current server) even if the server hostnames or IP addresses change.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
