1. How to increase your revenue with plugins!
How to increase your revenue with plugins!

With programmers, they say laziness is a virtue. You don't want to have to do the same job twice (or two dozen times) so you automate it.

That's exactly what we've been doing with our new plugins. We've taken some of the most commonly requested features that people have previously paid us hundreds of dollars per-site to implement and we've completely redesigned them as simple plugins that _any_ web developer can easily add to a site in minutes by copy and pasting some html (no programmers required!).

These plugins are currently licensed for unlimited use, so you buy them once and then you can offer them to every client, include them in every proposal, and "add" them to any website in just a few minutes. You could use each plugin on 100 different sites and not have to pay us a penny.

We know these ones are popular because they've been requested dozens of times, and having them in your toolbox means you can "out-bid" any PHP programmer trying to offer the same feature! All while making twice the profit margin doing it!

A great way to get started is by purchasing these plugins and installing them on your local demo copy of CMS Builder. There's no better way to get a good understanding of how they work and it makes it easy to take screenshots for proposals, etc. Here are the links:

Website Membership
Website Favorites
Website Saved Searches

PS: If you don't have a demo copy for showing clients, order one with the promo code CMSDEMOCOPY and we'll give you 75% off.

2. New Plugin: Website Favorites
New Plugin: Website Favorites

Website Favorites makes it easy to include an "Add to Favorites" feature to your website. Logged in users can simply click an "Add to Favorites" link to add a record or page to a personal list of favorites.

Just like browser bookmarks but for a specific site this makes it easy for users to find a page they liked and keeps them coming back to a website.

You can use Website Favorites in a variety of ways. If you're running a listings website (real estate, classifieds, products, etc), visitors can easily add listings and save them for later viewing. They can even manage their favorites from a user profile page, removing favorites they are no longer interested in.

Website Favorites can also be used for several other uses depending on the type of site you have. For social media and dating websites you can add "block user", "wink/wave/poke", and "who's viewed me" features. If you're running a product listings site, you can add a product "wish list".

Website Favorites comes with an Unlimited User/Royalty Free license, meaning you can install and use it on as many CMS Builder powered websites as you want.

3. Another New Plugin: Website Saved Searches
Another New Plugin: Website Saved Searches

Website Saved Searches allows you to add both "Save Search" and "My Saved Searches" features to your website. Your visitors can simply click a "Save Search" link and enter a search name to save their current search to a personal list of saved searches.

Your visitors can save searches and give them unique names like "Apartments near work" or "USB Adapters under $15". This will make it easier for them to identify the search they've saved when looking at their "My Saved Searches" page.

Our plugins have an Unlimited User/Royalty Free license. You can install and use Website Saved Searches on as many CMS Builder powered websites as you want.

You can learn more or purchase Website Saved Searches at our add-on store.

4. Updated Plugin: Website Membership
Updated Plugin: Website Membership

This has quickly become our most popular plugin! We've had a few requests for enhancing the "Edit My Profile" page as follows:

  • New documentation on adding custom text fields to a "Edit My Profile" page
  • New documentation on adding radio fields with values loaded from CMS to a "Edit My Profile" page
  • Erase Account: We added new button on the profile page to allow users to remove their accounts

Here's some free plugins we've built for forum users:

6. CMS Builder 2.03 Beta Video (4 min)
CMS Builder 2.03 Beta Video

CMS Builder development is continuing at its regular rapid pace and we're continuing to add more features every day requested and inspired by developers like you.

You can read about the latest beta in this forum thread, and (this is new) even watch a short 4 minute screencast where Dave demo's some of the features!

Because this version has some more advanced plugin features, we've also included a demo plugin that shows you how to use them.

If you're not already on the beta tester email list and you'd like to help beta test (you must own at least 1 CMSB license) just email dave@interactivetools.com with the subject line "Join Beta List" and we can add you. You never know when advanced knowledge of an upcoming feature will help you land a contract you might have lost otherwise.

Vancouver 2010 Olympics

Yes, we live and work in "that" Vancouver. It was very busy, very exciting, and overall pretty amazing (if a little difficult to get around.) Go Canada!
