2. Article Manager 2.1 Released - Major Update
Article Manager 2.1 Released - Major Update You can now download Article Manager 2.1 and take advantage of a ton of exciting and useful new features.
Multi-category Articles
Your articles are no longer limited to just one category, you can now put your articles in each relevant category. Your site visitors will now be able to find your articles more easily than before.

New Field Separator
Rather than having field separators part of other fields, they are their own field type. This makes it even easier to organize your fields in the "create article" and "create category" sections of the admin program.

Added Template Editor
The new template editor allows you to edit the HTML of any of Article Manager's templates from the admin program itself. You can also download backups or use the editor to save entirely new templates.

Improved Publishing Speed
Article Manager 2's publishing is now faster than ever. Whether you have hundreds or hundreds thousands of articles, Article Manager can handle the load.

There's also a ton of other great features and improvements with this release. Really, more than I can list! :) Be sure to check out the change log to see what's new or download the latest version. If you have any questions about upgrades or you would rather have us install the upgrade for you please let us know.

3. Upgrade By Donation
Upgrade By Donation Way back when (about seven months ago :) we decided to change our upgrade policy from unlimited free upgrades to 90 days of free upgrades. Of course, people bought, 90 days passed, and as you can imagine, some people would ask us when we were going to start charging for upgrades.

Well, we just never did. We never charged for one single upgrade. People who had purchased more than 90 days ago could still download their upgrades for free.

So we've finally gotten around to this. And if you had any anxiety about how much it would cost, you can rest easy. From now, we're going to allow you to upgrade by donation. Instead of charging you for upgrades after 90 days, you now get to decide how generous you want to be.

We trust you, so it's totally done on the "honour system". And with your support we can continue this way and keep releasing great upgrades. :)

If you want to download the latest version of any product (including the new Article Manager 2.1), or donate to the cause, please visit the upgrade page.

If you're not sure what the latest versions are, you can check the product changelogs and read the online documentation for upgrade instructions.
4. Coach's Corner - The 3 Most Popular Consulting Features For Article Manager
Coach's Corner - The 3 Most Popular Consulting Features For Article Manager As the Coach, I've been handling all of our Priority Consulting projects and aside from full template integrations there have been quite a few quick projects that generally don't take more than an hour of time.

This month I discuss the three most requested Article Manager features that I've set up through Priority Consulting.

1. Google AdSense
      - Having
Google AdSense on your Article Manager site
is a great way to generate revenue and it's really quick to set up. You can just provide me with the AdSense code and I'll add this to Article Manager's templates for you.

2. Featured Story
      - Setting up a
featured or "Top" story
is an excellent way to highlight an article on your site. This article will stand out on your site's home page either with a larger image or different format than your other articles. Once we've set this up through Priority Consulting, it's really easy for you (or your clients) to choose which article should be the Top Story.

3. Non-article Sections
      - Article Manager's flexibility allows you to set up
static pages for non-Article content
like "About Us", "Contact Us", etc. Once I've set this up you can modify these static pages the same way you would update any other article, right through Article Manager's admin program.

While you're free to set these up yourself, we can do it for you. These advanced features can generally be set up in just one hour of Priority Consulting time. If you're interested in any of these or have any other questions, feel free to send me an email.

Cheers,
Mike "Coach" Briggs
5. New Article Manager Template
New Article Manager Template We just released an entirely new default template design for Article Manager. With a much cleaner and streamlined look, getting a professionally designed article-driven site up and running will be easier than ever before.

And don't worry, if you still prefer the old default template design, you can easily use that instead: we provide our "classic" design with the latest zip of the program.

The new design is much more CSS based ("div's" and CSS-positioning rather than <table> tags), so there's a lot less code in the templates and it's easy to make site-wide changes to colors and fonts, or even move the navigation from the right to the left. Plus, if you want to copy-and-paste Article Manager elements into your own design, it's even easier to find them in the simple, uncluttered pages.

You can check out the new design by visiting the Article Manager online demo. If you would like to try out the new template for yourself you can download the latest version of Article Manager. As I mentioned previously, Article Manager 2.1 comes with a ton of great new features so there are several other reasons (new template editor, multi-category articles, and more) for you to check it out.

If you have any questions about the design, or need help with anything else, please be sure to let us know.
6. Developer Resources
Developer Resources This time around I've provided a couple of links which will hopefully make your web design life just a little easier. You'll also find a cool article on Web 2.0, explaining what it exactly is. Take a look.
4 Steps To Effective Web Design Pricing
Perhaps one of the hardest skills to learn in web design is how to fairly and effectively price your services. The quoted price can either sell a client, or turn them away. Here are some guidelines on how to develop a pricing guide for your web design services. If you're reselling our products, you might also want to read over some tips on billing your clients for our software.

Colorschemer Gallery
Do you ever get stuck when choosing colors for a website design? I think that this is a common problem many designers face. If that happens to you, or you find yourself recycling the same color palates over and over, then check out the Colorschemer Gallery, you'll find a list of over 2,000 color schemes.

Typetester
If you're not stumped on colors, you might be getting stuck on choosing fonts. Typetester is designed to make a web designer’s life easier. With this tool you can quickly and easily preview the standard fonts and get a feel for how they would look with your copy or some test content.

Web 2.0: What Is It Really?
There's a slightly funny but disturbing trend lately: clients want something called "Web 2.0." People aren't happy with just a plain old website anymore. Now they want it sprinkled with magic fairy Web 2.0 pixie dust before they're happy. Are there people in your office talking about Web 2.0 but don't seem to exactly know what it is? Well, what is Web 2.0?
