All Products Now Private Label

We've just completed making all of our products Private Label, which means you can now market them under your own company or brand name.

By rebranding the product, you have total flexibility in charging your clients whatever you want - without worrying about competing with our prices. Your brand will make you the only point of origin for the products and services you offer.

Rebranding our products with your information is easy and can be completed in few simple steps. Check out the Private Label section on our website for more information.

So I wish all of you a Happy Holidays and hope you have a wonderful time with family, friends, and anyone else special in your life. :)

Take Our 1 Minute Article Manager Survey

We've put together a quick survey to help us better understand how everyone feels about Article Manager. If you could take a minute and fill it out we'd really appreciate it.

Article Manager Survey

Year in Review

It's been a busy year at interactivetools.com. With all of the various product updates and new services we made available this year I thought it would be a good idea to go over some of the major milestones we achieved. Some of the ones that stand out for me are the release of Listings Manager, the launch of our Priority Consulting Service, the release of Private Label versions of all of our products, and that we now offer technical support 7 days a week.

Here's a month by month breakdown of what I feel are some of our biggest accomplishments this year:

JANUARY

  • htmlArea 2.03 released with a new Open Source BSD style license
  • updated News Manager and Page Publisher to support htmlArea (our WYSIWYG editor)

FEBRUARY

  • updated Page Publisher to support image and file uploading
  • extended technical support to 7 days a week
  • updated Job Manager and DocBuilder to support htmlArea
  • released some major enhancements to Article Manager (XSS filter, search engine enhancements)

MARCH

  • released htmlArea 3.0 beta (which includes support for Mozilla browsers)

APRIL

  • moved to a new office on April 11th
  • created a new beta testing program to get our customers more involved in the development process

MAY

  • began offering our Priority Consulting service
  • updated Realty Manager and Auto Manager to include image thumbnailing support, htmlArea, and hidden listings

JUNE

  • released several recommended upgrades that provided new and better filelocking support
  • updated Article Manager to include added ability for specifying category upload and publish directories

JULY

  • released beta distribution of Listings Manager

AUGUST

  • released beta distribution of Article Manager's SSI Parsing feature (this was later overhauled to be a comprehensive server side script parsing system, rather than just SSIs)

SEPTEMBER

  • updated Article Manager to support added rendering of SSIs and server side script (PHP, ASP, etc.) in pages generated dynamically by the program

OCTOBER

  • released a new product, Listings Manager, which incorporates both Auto Manager and Realty Manager

NOVEMBER

  • released Private Label versions for all of our software products
  • updated Page Publisher to support hyperlink and image attributes in PML tags

DECEMBER

  • released upgrades for Article Manager that improve the Server Side Parsing feature

And we'll spend some time this month drinking egg nog and planning what we'll be doing in 2004! :)

AND IN 2004?
We have some really exciting things planned, including many new features, and a brand new top secret product that is unlike anything you've ever seen before. We can't tell you any more than that right now, but 2004 promises to be a very exciting year!

Developers: How to Install IE 5.0, 5.5, and 6.0 on the Same Machine

Anyone who has had to test a website on different versions of Internet Explorer knows what a hassle it can be. On Windows it's always been nearly impossible to run different versions of IE on the same machine.

Well not anymore, some clever folks over at skyzyx.com have posted a great tutorial on how to do this by making use of some hidden "features" Microsoft never told anyone about.

We've tried it internally and it works great. If you're a web developer, you may find this very useful when testing to see if your or your client's website works in IE 5.01, IE 5.5, and IE 6.0.

You can find older downloads of IE and learn more about how to install multiple Internet Explorers on the skyzyx.com website.

According to stats from theCounter.com, as many as 34% of all web surfers still run Internet Explorer 5.x. It's well worth testing your websites with it.

Other News

I've included in this section a couple of smaller items I felt were worth mentioning.

Pictures of us in the forum
We've recently added our pictures to our forum posts, so now you can get a better idea of who's helping you. Here's a post with my picture.

Sitting like this is pretty comfortable, but my productivity seems to suffer. ;)

Car crash on our front steps!
The other day Dave (our senior programmer) was walking to work and noticed a lady had driven her car directly down the front steps outside of our office building. She later told us she thought it was an entrance to a parking lot!

Being that she was such a good sport, she let us take some pictures. It's not everyday that something this bizarre happens on your way to work! You can view the picture here.

interactivetools Team Donates 5 Computers to Local Elementary School

As part of our company mandate we have a philanthropic initiative where we make unsolicited contributions to groups and organizations that we feel can help make a difference.

As part of this initiative, we're proud to announce that we've been able to fund the purchase 5 new Apple eMac computers for William Watson Elementary, a local school in our community.

Many of us here, as life-long computer enthusiasts, have fond memories of working with computers in elementary school ourselves. As such, we're very pleased to be able to play a role in increasing access to computers and technology for today's kids.

We're all very pleased to be able to contribute and know that both the teachers and students will put the computers to good educational use!

At least until they figure out that WarCraft III runs on eMacs too! ;)
