1. Holiday wishes (and $50) from interactivetools.com
Holiday wishes (and $50) from interactivetools.com

All of us at interactivetools.com would like to wish you a Merry Christmas.

As the holiday season begins we'd like to take a moment to thank you for being a subscriber. We're giving $50 towards any purchase to everyone who subscribes to this newsletter.

Your $50 can be used toward any purchase (limit one per customer). Purchase CMS Builder for only $149.97, get a discount on any discontinued product, or hire us and use it towards custom work.

To make use of your $50, when placing your order simply enter CHEER50 into the promo code field.

You can use this anytime before January 3rd, 2010. Sadly, this season doesn't last forever. :)

We hope you have a fun and festive holiday season, filled with family get-togethers, skiing and ice skating (or surfing, if you're one of our southern-hemisphere friends!) and maybe enjoying a quiet evening in the comfort of your home with loved ones.

Merry Christmas,
Your friends at interactivetools.com

2. Hire Us and Save 20% (ends January 3rd)
Hire Us and Save 20% (ends January 3rd)

A lot of people have been enjoying the holiday season, especially with Thanksgiving Day just passing and Christmas time upon us. As is normal for this time of year, this gives our team a bit of a lull before it starts to pick up again and hit full-speed in January. This means it's the perfect time to get started with your project. The sooner you let us know you have a project, the sooner we can get you in before the January rush begins.

Also, as an added bonus, if you book now you'll save 20%. That's the same as getting 5 hours custom work for the price of 4. A savings of $100 for every 5 hours of time you need. Purchase 10 hours and you save $200! Also, if you don't have any projects on the horizon, you can stock up now and use those hours for a future project.

As mentioned in the last newsletter, you can now hire us to be your expert virtual development team for any CMS Builder content management project, large and small. We can help you in many ways: CMS Builder integration, custom programming, project management, vision and guidance, and more.

And just like our software, this service is completely private label. We work behind the scenes, integrating a powerful content management system that automates your client's entire website. When all is said and done, your client is happy to get what they asked for and you charge a premium for our service. We do the work, you take all the credit.

To learn more about how we can help you on your next project, please visit the Hire Us section of the intereactivetools.com website or contact us for a no obligation, free estimate.

3. CMS Builder 2.00 Released - Major Update
CMS Builder 2.00 Released - Major Update

We've just released CMS Builder v2.00 with a brand new user interface and updated web 2.0 design. We're VERY excited about this one. We hinted about this in our last newsletter, which you can see screenshots here.

There's also 3 color schemes (red, blue, and green) which you can switch between under: Admin > General.

For a full list of changes, visit the CMS Builder changelog or you can upgrade by donation.

Please feel free to send us your feedback and questions! We're always eager to get your feature requests and bug reports, every single release is full of user requested fixes and features. Post in the forum or email our senior programmer at dave@interactivetools.com.

4. Membership Plugin Coming Soon
Membership Plugin Coming Soon

This Friday (December 18th) we plan to release a new Membership Plugin for CMS Builder called websiteMembership.

websiteMembership makes it easy to password protect specific areas of your CMS Builder powered website. Features include a user sign-up, a password reminder, and a user login. You can even provide individual users with user specific content (meaning the content is unique only to the user who's logged in). This could be as simple as personalizing pages "Hello, John", having certain content only visible for logged in users "Sign up or Login to see more details", or even showing different content to different users based on their settings. Such as showing users with a "premium membership" data that other users can't see.

Feel free to send any questions about this new plugin or how you might like to use it to consulting@interactivetools.com and we'll be happy to provide more details.

To find out more about this new plugin please visit the Add Ons store of the interactivetools.com website on or after Friday, December 18th.

5. New Look for interactivetools.com
New Look for interactivetools.com

If the cool stuff happening above is not enough to entice you to visit our website, maybe you'll want to check out the new interactivetools.com design.

We've just launched a redesign of interactivetools.com which places the focus on CMS Builder, the CMS Builder Add Ons store, and our custom services ("hire us"). Please feel free to check it out the new design and let me know what you think.

Also, this is a new launch, and with anything new we may have missed something. If you notice it doesn't work in your browser quite right, there's a section missing you used to visit, or there's a grammatical error somewhere, please let me know.

6. Developer Resources
Developer Resources

Here are a couple of useful resources for web developers and designers. Email me YOUR favourite resource and I might feature it in a future newsletter.

Minimizing Complexity In User Interfaces
Clean. Easy to use. User-friendly. Intuitive. This mantra is proclaimed by many but often gets lost in translation. The culprit: complexity. How one deals with complexity can make or break an application.

10 Tips for Creating Compelling Web Copy
You are the most important person in the world. Wow, I got you to read the second sentence. Your interest is now piqued and you want to read more. If you do read this article, you will learn exactly how important it is to create compelling web copy.

How a Web Design Goes Straight to Hell
This is a little bit of a humour piece, but if you're in the business of designing websites I think you'll be able to relate.
