1. CMS Builder Plugins at the New interactivetools Appstore
CMS Builder Plugins at the New interactivetools Appstore

We've just launched a new section on our website called the Appstore. The Appstore is an excellent place to purchase plug-ins for your CMS Builder or Instant Websites. You can use plugins to extend and enhance the program, and you only have to purchase a plugin once: additional licenses are not required for multiple sites.

To purchase a plug-in, simply sign up for an account, access the Appstore, and place your order.

Here are the first four plugins for our Appstore launch:

Auto Backup - $19.95
Automatically create daily, weekly, and monthly backups of the programs MySQL database. With historical database "snapshots", you can go back a few days, a few weeks, and even a few months to find the best restore point. It's like a time machine without the DeLorean!

Low Disk Space Alert - $9.95
Notifies you by email the moment your server's disk space falls below a certain threshold, allowing you to avoid a multitude of potential problems.

CSV Export - $29.95
Easily export your CMS Builder data so it can be edited or manipulated by any other program that supports the standard CSV spreadsheet format, such as Microsoft Excel.

Twitter Post - $24.95
A useful plugin that creates a simple integration between your CMS Builder and your Twitter account.

Be sure to check out the Appstore today and purchase these useful plug-ins which are sure to enhance your CMS Builder. We'll be releasing even more in the weeks to come, so stay tuned!

3. New Version of CMS Builder (Backup & Restore Feature Added)
New Version of CMS Builder (Backup & Restore Feature Added)

Since the last newsletter we've released a new version of CMS Builder with many new features and improvements. This release is focused on backup & restore. Here's some of what's new:

  • Backup & Restore - These menu options are available under: Admin > General Settings > Database Settings. This makes it easy to backup your data for safekeeping, move data between servers, or even to export your data to a text (backup) file for easy search and replaces when you want to modify the data. And if you purchase the Auto Backup plugin, you'll automatically generate restore points of your CMS Builder database.

  • WYSIWYG Spellcheck - Added a new spellcheck button. Note that you need openssl or curl PHP extensions to use this (most servers have those by default).

  • New showme() function - You can use this during development while creating viewers. Try with any variable name to see all the fields and values available to be used.

For a full list of changes, visit the CMS Builder changelog or you can upgrade by donation.

10 Useful Usability Findings and Guidelines
Here are useful usability findings and guidelines that may help you improve the user experience on your websites.

IE6 Update
Are you sick of supporting IE6 for your websites? IE6 update is a simple JavaScript that you add to your website to encourage your visitors to upgrade IE. When an IE6 visitor comes to your website, a yellow bar will appear at the top of the page, similar to Internet Explorer's Information Bar. The bar notifies the user that a browser update is available, and when the user clicks on the bar, it takes them to the official Internet Explorer website. From there, they can decide whether or not to upgrade.
