There's a user "rootmail" that seems to be created that has control over access privileges when install on a Linux system. I'm unable to override this user's access and update permissions. Can someone help with this issue?

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I've never heard of a "rootmail" user, so I'm not sure about that.  It's not related to CMS Builder but may be an existing account on your system.

CMS Builder runs with the same permissions as PHP and/or Apache, so it shouldn't have access to create linux users or anything like that.

Sometimes what happens, though, is that PHP/Apache runs as one user, and your FTP server runs as another, so if files are created with PHP then you can't modify them via FTP.

You can see what user PHP is running as user: Admin > General > Server Info > PHP Version > phpinfo

The solution is to change the permissions from PHP or the shell to make them writable to all the users.  Or my preference is to have PHP/Apache run as the same user as the account,

Hope that makes sense and helps.  Let me know any questions.
