Greetings.
Image quality is poor when uploading an image in the WSIWG interface. I have tried uploading them as png and jpg with no appreciable difference.

This used to get me all the time.
In the upload settings for the field where you add that that image "Resize images larger than: 800 width 600 height " is by default turned on. so your image is being reduced in size to 600px wide by CMSB, then stretched to display at the correct size by your html.
Uncheck the resize option, the re upload your image.

Also, I'd recommend setting the height and width of the image with PHP, not hard-coding them.
