How is 'Preview' intended?

Hi. I am having confusion about the function of the 'Preview' button when editing a list record item.

My assumption was that if I am creating a new list record or editing an existing one, any unsaved edits or additions would be visible in the preview.

From what I'm seeing, (looked at ver 2.61, 2.64, 3.02) it is necessary to first save the record before the preview is updated. It seems that needing to save the record first defeats the purpose of having a preview button.

Am I missing something obvious? Please clarify and thanks.

Hi Deborah,

Just tested with CMS Builder 3.03 and preview works as expected.

When creating a new record, before clicking Save, I can click Preview to see the results.

Also, when editing an existing record, I can Preview changes before saving.

Can you test with CMS Builder 3.03 and let me know if you are getting the correct results?

Cheers,

Hi again,

Yes, I tested in CMS Builder 2.65 and Preview works as expected.

Can you check that for single section editors (ex. About) you are using this code in the load records:

'where'       => '', // load first record

And for multi-section editors (ex. News) can you check that you are using this code in the load records:

'where'       => whereRecordNumberInUrl(0),

If you are and Preview is still not working, can you send in a Support Request so we can take a closer look:

Thanks!

Hi Deborah,

We recently moved to a new server and are having some issue with email forms. If you have sent in a Support Request, could you resend the details (CMS Builder login, FTP) to me directly at support@interactivetools.com.

Thanks!
