AutoBackup v1.04 + CMSB v2.65

I'm puzzled. After upgrading my own site from CMSB v.2.64 to 2.65, I'm not receiving daily backups with the AutoBackup v.1.04 plugin. Email backups seem to only be sent if I log in to the CMS. (No log in, no email backup.)
The Background Tasks Log shows "Aborting, task still running from last time" for function "autoBackup_updateBackup".
I experienced same lack of email sending prior to 2.64 for multiple clients, but with 2.64 sites, that works again. With this one 2.65 install, I've again lost the emails.
I've checked everything I can think of. Can someone confirm that AutoBackup 1.04 does work with 2.65 for sending mail at the schedule cron job time?

Hi Deborah,
It could be an unrelated issue. If all your getting is the "task still running" messages it would point to a long-running or stuck background process.
