Contact Form with Captcha and form validation
I am not a good coder, I can get my head around if else statements etc but not around very complex php code. For years I have been using dreamweaver extensions to create contact formss alone with separate captcha and form validation, but to say the least most that are out there at the moment are crap.
i was wondering what you guys use to simplify your contact page, most of the time yes there is a need to ask clients their name, email address, and get there message. other times maybe one or two other fields are required.
Do you guys use a tool for this thus. you complete all the details and upload a few pages and BINGO it all works. I would like to be able to control the captcha aka with regards how many letters one needs to copy into a textfield. I also like to be able to change all words in the name area to be first letter capital.
All in all I just want something of an all-rounder to create my future contact pages, a bit like this cms, as I am confident with css and front end, also calling variables from database.
Do you guys use a tool for emails ??
We almost always build our forms from scratch, and don't really use any systems to speed up the process. Although this is more time consuming than using an automated method, it does give us full control over all elements of the system.
We don't normally use captchas on our forms, here is a post I wrote about how you can deter spammers without using a captcha:
You could probably repurpose the demo code from that post into a contact form if you wanted. There is a PHP function you can use to capitalize the first letter of every word in a string called ucwords, you can read how to use it here:
If you do want to use a captcha system, I highly recommend the Google reCaptcha system:
It's very easy to implement, free, and also very secure.
As building secure captcha system is very difficult, it's often better to trade off the level of control (choosing the number of letters, for example) for the extra security you get from a commercial system.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I like it. You still have to build the HTML file, but then it does the rest for you. I use the php engine and am very happy with it.
