I'd like to allow a guest to post articles with no login is this possible?

Hi Jake,

Thanks for the reply.

Is there any way i can embed this link to a <Submit Article> button without the link being presented in the underlying code. Like "include once" in php? What i am trying to achieve is a guest being able to post.

Title (text only)

Article (text only)

Authors Bio (allowing embedded links only)

Can i create a custom template for posting these fields?

Here is a sample of what I'm trying to achieve.

Thanks

Hi Jayvah,

Thanks for your reply. [:)]

Article Manager wasn't really designed with web form based article submissions in mind, which is why this is tough to set up. You won't really be able to create a form for creating articles like on the page your provided a link to. One way to get around this would be to run Article Manager's "Create Article" page in an <iframe> tag on your site. Some other options here would be to create an email form which mailed this information to you, or write some PHP code which posted that article information directly to Article Manager's MySQL database.

Hi Jayvah,

Thanks for posting. [:)]

While there isn't a way to set this up automatically, you could create a link on your site which contained the login and password for a guest account in Article Manager. By following this link, users would automatically logged in at which point they could create an article. Your link would look like this:

http://www.yoursite.com/cgi-bin/artman2/admin.cgi?loginUsername=USERNAME&loginPassword=PASSWORD&action=loginSubmit

You'll want to replace "USERNAME" and "PASSWORD" with the guest username and password as well as the path to the admin.cgi file on your site.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

I know this thread is pretty old but I am trying to use the Code supplied above and I am having problems with cookes:

Cookies are not enabled!
Please enable cookies and try again.

Link is:

http://www.thesisabstracts.com/cgi-bin/artman2/admin.cgi?loginUsername=user&loginPassword=user&action=loginSubmit

I even tried using:

http://www.thesisabstracts.com/cgi-bin/artman2/admin.cgi?loginUsername=user&loginPassword=user&action=loginSubmit&nextAction=articleAdd

but same error!

Tried this on 2 PCs using IE, FF and opera

Thanks

Sandro

Hi there!

Try this:

http://www.thesisabstracts.com/cgi-bin/artman2/admin.cgi?loginUsername=user&loginPassword=user

Let me know if that works for you. :)

Hi Donna,
I have tried to setup a 'guest' account, but I just go to the login screen, with the user fill in, but the password empty. Pls feel free to test it

Thanks a lot.,

Hi Felix,

Are you sure that's the correct username & password? I can't read the language (spanish?) that you've used, but when I try to log in with that username & password, I get this:

"Su cuenta no tiene derechos de acceso. Si es un usuario nuevo, debe esperar que su cuenta sea aprobada. En caso contrario, contacte con el departamento de soporte en el +34 91 659 2790."

Hi Donna,
You are right. I have modified it, and even the User and passw are correct, I just go to the Login screen, It accept the User but the Password box is empty. I understand that if I insert in URL the user and password I should go to 'add article' directly. am I right?

Thanks a lot.,
Felix

Hi there,

It won't go straight to the Add Article page, but will go to a page that will let you click directly to the Add Article page.

It's working fine for me, though.

You can also try adding &action=loginSubmit to the end. Does that work for you?
