I have been asked to bid a new web site for a county assessor with an online database for file listings that require multiple data sets within a single file – each file would have typical property data plus have the ability to post multiple data sets.[/#000000]

[/#000000]

File #1 - Property name, description etc. – within each posting the ability to post additional data as follows:[/#000000]

Section to post current and each previous owner (separate file posting for each)[/#000000]

Section to post multiple soil types and descriptions (separate file posting for each)[/#000000]

Section to post multiple improvements and descriptions (separate file posting for each)[/#000000]

Section to post multiple year real estate taxes (separate file posting for each)[/#000000]

Etc. [/#000000]

[/#000000]

Can CMS handle this? [/#000000]

[/#000000]

If so, can you provide a quick outline on how to setup the section?[/#000000]

Thanks[/#000000]

Hi Ray,

Yes, you'd be able to model this data in CMS Builder. This is the approach I would take.

First, I would make on section for a property. Next, I would make a separate section for all the different "files" that would need to be associated with a property (in your example: Owner, soil types, improvements, taxes). I would create one new section for each of them.

In each of the other sections, I would have a drop down box where I would relate the record back to the parent property ( for information on how to do that, see this article:
http://www.interactivetools.com/knowledge_base/article.php?Populate-a-list-field-from-another-section-15)

Finally, back in the main property record, you could create a related record field for all of your sub "files" so you can see which record have been associated with that property.

Hope this helps get you started. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
