Hello All!

We've just released v1.29 with some new features and many improvements and bug fixes.

The main focus of this release was "Demo Mode". You can now setup a secure public demo where people can see the features of CMS Builder without being able to break anything. They can even create new records (articles, etc) without changing what anyone else will see (everyone gets their own private demo and it's all automatic). There's a new doc page here with all the details: http://www.interactivetools.com/docs/cmsbuilder/demo_mode.html

Some of the other new features and changes include:
- WYSIWYG: Upgraded tinyMCE to version 3.2.4.1 (Released 2009-05-25)
- WYSIWYG: Word content is now automatically detected and cleaned up without need for the paste dialog popup window.
- Compatibility: Installing the program on an https:// url now works (no hard coded http:// redirects).

For a full list of changes, visit the CMS Builder changelog:

CMS Builder users can upgrade by donation at this page:

Keep your feature requests and bug reports coming in! Every single release we've done is packed full of user requested changes. Post to the forum or send us an email at dave@interactivetools.com.

See you in the forum! :)

PS: version v1.30 is already in development (no release date set yet) and is all about advanced search filters in the admin program so you can search multiple fields for different values rather than just a single keyword.

Please feel free to post the url to any public demos you setup below, we'd love to see what you've done.

Dave,

A simple databse backup / restore utility would be nice (at least the backup utility). It would be great to provide backups of client's CMS material without having to use phpMyAdmin, etc.

Cheers

Hi Dave,

Yes I see the complexity. The MySQL would be the main thing to backup, and the data and schema folders. The other files such as uploads can be backed up easily via FTP, since they will liekly be in different location(s).

I certainly agree with Avrom. This would be a really handy addition.

One of the hardest tasks is convincing my clients to do regular backups.

I'd like to see a backup utility that is logged into directly, without any admin interfacing.

Logging in to this special 'backup" page would present a number of check boxes, that allow the user to backup the areas listed above.

I don't know if it's possible, but could the page query the uploads database for upload locations?

The viewer files are another issue, but I'm sure that there's an approach that would work.

Also, since upload folders are potentially so large, could:

1) an "are you sure" screen be shown with the cumulative size of the upload folder displayed?

2) An option to "overwrite existing files", with the default to "not overwrite".

Just some ideas.

Best,

Jerry

Jerry,

Thanks for the suggestions. We can get the upload paths pretty easily. The viewer files are trickier. But in reality the uploads, mysql and /data/ folder are the only things that are changed live on the website.

We'll take another look at this for an upcoming release. I'm not sure how we'll package it (built-in, plugin, etc) but once we do some research I'll let you know.

Still a few more things to add, but this demo has pretty much all my key areas.

Any suggestions for additional featues to show off would be welcomed.

One of my main channels is being the "web-guy" for design studios that have no in-house web. So after I get all the functionality I can into this, I plan on duplicating the front-end with a totally different CSS skin... same content, so design studio clients can see how easy it is to re-skin.
