Batch image uploading

Hi all,

I’ll be setting up a gallery page for an art project with about 500 images.

There will only be one field in the editor, the upload field. No Titles or captions, just the image itself.

Anyone know of a way that I can batch upload all the images?

Thanks,

Hi Jerry

Thanks for posting!

Batch uploading isn't exactly something CMS Builder is setup for. I think it might be better to look into creating yourself a custom uploading script to do the job.

Is this a one time thing and then you can just do a few uploads at a time? Or would you need to be uploading 500 images on a fairly regular basis?

If it's a one time thing, the best way to run the script would be if you can just upload the images to the server manually first. Then you could have the script just read that folder and add every item in it as an image to your database.

Let me know what you think. This would be something we can look at for you through consulting.

Thanks!

Hi Ross,

This is a one time thing. An art project for an artist. It's not a commercial venture. Hence no money.

The uploading of all images to a directory sounds good, so if you can point me in the right direction maybe I could figure out where to go from that point.

Thanks,

Jerry

Hi Jerry

Once you have the images on the server in that one folder, you'll need a script to read through that folder and add each item to your database.

It can actually get a little tricky from there though so it's likely going to be more than we can handle through the forums. You'll definitely want to be quite comfortable working with PHP on this one.

We can look at it through consulting for you, but that's a paid service.

Keep me up to date either way :).
