This is a very interesting article I found on the W3C Lessons website, and I thought I would share it.  Extremely useful!

Hi Ragi,

Thanks for sharing.

We do have the built in isValidEmail function in CMS Builder to check that an email entered if in a valid email format:

if (!@$_REQUEST['email'])                   { $errorsAndAlerts .= "You must enter your email!<br/>\n"; }
else if(!isValidEmail(@$_REQUEST['email'])) { $errorsAndAlerts .= "Please enter a valid email (example: user@example.com)<br/>\n"; }

But that third party service does a whole lot more validation.

Nice!

Damon:  I've installed it on a client site, and they just love it as it has decreased the incidence  of non-existent email addresses drastically.  I'm going to see if i can integrate it with Newsletter Builder.  One of my clients sends out a newsletter every few weeks and invariably, at least 10% of the emails bounce or no longer exist.  If I can figure out a way to check all subscribers prior to sending the newsletter, then removing the dead email addresses, that would be great.
