Chrome Auto-complete is changing username/password

By Toledoh - January 3, 2017

Hey Guys.

I've got a system going where new members need to be "approved" via the site admin by unchecking the "disable account" checkbox in the members table.  However, it seems that Google Chrome "autocomplete" is automatically filling in the username / password fields so that when the tick box is unchecked and the record saved - the records username and password fields are also changed.

Any thoughts on how to disable that?

Cheers,

Hey Tim,

Yea, that's annoying.  They can manually turn that off like this:

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More   Settings.
  3. At the bottom, click Show advanced settings.
  4. Under "Passwords and forms," uncheck "Enable Autofill to fill out web forms in a single click."

But we do try to disable it with the "Disable Autocomplete" setting under Admin > Security Settings.  Can you check if that's checked?

If it is, Chrome has probably updated how they do that.  It looks like it may be a new setting: http://stackoverflow.com/a/36538894

Let me know if the CMSB "Disable Autocomplete" is enabled?  If not we can take a look.  Thanks!

Thanks Dave - that was un-checked, I'll check with the client to see if the issue remains.
