1. CMS Builder v1.10 released
|
I love this thing!!!
"Can now see why you were so excited about getting CMS Builder out and working. Extremely flexible. Once I got over the idea that it was simply a different version of Article Manager, the learning curve dropped and I found myself appreciating the beauty of the concept in unanticipated applications. Beautiful! Many thanks for your wonderful product support, the best reason of all to use Interactive Tools. Happy Interactive Tools product user since 1999"

We've just released v1.10, a major upgrade with a ton of new features.
This version supports Advanced Access Levels for users. With Advanced Access Levels you can limit a user's access to only their own records and also limit how many records each user can create. This can all be done on a section by section basis.
For example, if you're running a classified ads website and charging someone for access you could limit their account to 5 records. It could also be useful if you have different authors contributing to the same section and you don't want them to be able to modify each other's articles.
Finally, this release includes an upgrade to the latest version of the TinyMCE WYSIWYG editor and includes numerous bug fixes and usability improvements.
For a full list of changes, please visit the CMS Builder changelog.
CMS Builder users can also upgrade by donation at this page.
Keep your feature requests and bug reports coming in! Every single release we've done is packed full of user requested changes. Post to the forum or send us an email.

3. IE 8 Beta Now Available
|
Microsoft has just launched Internet Explorer 8, and according to their developer blog, it looks like it may be more web standards compliant.
This beta is aimed at web developers and designers to help them take advantage of new features in Internet Explorer 8 that will enhance their websites.
Testing it out myself, the four newest features are Developer Tools, Activities, Web Slices, and Ajax Navigation. I've gone over each below:
The new Developer Tools make it easier to test designs, debug problems, or just experiment and learn more about web development. For example, the Developer Tools include a JScript (Microsoft's JavaScript) debugger, making it easier to track down any scripting problems.
Activities allow you to interact with the websites you're visiting, such as viewing an address in Microsoft Virtual Earth, search for news related to the page you're visiting, or share the page you're visiting in your facebook profile.
Web Slices allow you to subscribe to portions of a webpage. For example, you can track the activity of an ebay auction, follow updates on your friends' facebook profiles, or track which websites were recently addeed to stumbleupon.com.
The new Ajax Navigation feature makes it easier for developers to track navigation. Ajax applications don't use any page loads so clicking your browser's back button will often have you exit the application. The Ajax Navigation feature makes it easier for developers to build Ajax applications where this won't happen.
You can download the new Internet Explorer 8 here.
Keep in mind this is a beta, so it's not entirely stable just yet, and it WILL overwrite your IE 7 installation. So unless you're willing to take the good with the bad I wouldn't recommend installing this just yet. :)
