Should I use CMSB or Realty Manager?

I have done quite a few sites with CMSB now and I absolutely love it.

I am doing a new website for a Real Estate agent who wants a standard website with regular pages (about us, contact etc) but also wants to be able to list and manage all of their property listings on the website.

I was going to use CMSB for this site then remembered you have a product for real estate websites. Am I right to think that if I use CMSB that I am getting more because I will be able to do the same as the Realtor product can do, but also customise the content for other pages on the site, or does the Realtor product have some more Real Estate specific features I'm not aware of that I may miss out on by using CMSB?

Also, I want to people to be able to search the listings like you can on most real estates by selecting combinations of things e.g. bedrooms, price etc. A search seems to come standard in the Realtor program - can CMSB create a similar search?

Any help and advice would be appreciated :)

CMS Builder can do everything that Realty Manager can... and a lot more... and costs less. :)

Mainly the only people we're recommending to continue using Realty Manager (and Listings Manager) are those who are comfortable with it and who've been using it for years but aren't quite ready to make the switch to CMS Builder, or can't run PHP, or don't have access to a database.

In your case, you definitely want to go with CMS Builder.

Hi Donna.

I am a 'non techie' and I want to build a brand new website using your systems to build a website similar to this:

http://au.boats.com/index.jsp

http://www.boatsales.com.au/

It seems, based on what you are saying, that I will need the CMS builder and the article manager combined + a separate HTML design for the graphics, navigation, etc? Is that correct?

I assume with my limited technical knowledge that you get the required MSQL database with a chosen hosting provider?

Apologies for what might be a simple question but I need to clarify this urgently so I can move forward, thanks.

Hi Andy,

Definitely go with CMS Builder. We're moving all our products towards that platform.

Hi Dave,

thanks for your reply.

So can I confirm what you are saying that the CMS builder price includes 'today', the current 'ad ons' such as the listings and article manager?

Or are you saying they will eventually be part of the CMS builder but they are not at the moment? If this is the case what is the situation with 'adding on' these modules, is it still currently a case of purchasing them as they are?

Thanks for your help, appreciated.

Andy

Hi Andy,

No, those are all different products. All you need is CMS Builder. If you go with CMS Builder, you should be able to do everything you need to do to create a boat listing site.

Hope that helps!

Hi Dave,

thats great, thanks.

Sorry I have to ask another question to be clear

I do want to add many, many article pages to the website as well.

Therefore can I still do this with the CMS builder similar to Article manager?

Andy

Hi Andy,

Yes, CMS Builder can handle articles as well. Generally what you would do is add an "Articles" section with the fields you want, separate from the other sections (ie, your boat listings, and so on.)

I hope this helps!

Now that you have released Instant Realty Website based on CMSB would the above answers still hold true or would it be simpler to now use the IRW

Hi Aussie,

Instant Realty Website is exactly the same as CMS Builder, but with some additional customizations & templates setup for you. So, Instant Realty Website would be the better fit, because we've done some of the groundwork already. Other than that, it's still exactly the same product.
