listman_signup_addon_2.51 VS. adduser.dat.cgi Can't Post

Just starting out with Realty Mgr and I having been pouring through the forums.

It seems like getting the sign up process automated is a hot topic.

What is the difference between these 2 add-ons? (They seem the same to me but I could be way off Tongue)

Do they accomplish the same thing?

What are the differences in features?

Why choose one over the other?

Any feedback would be extremely helpful..

thanks,
Scott

Hi websapien,

Thanks for the forum post Smile.

For automatic signup, using the lastest version of Realty Manager AND using listman_signup_addon_2.51 is recommended. If you want the free add-on script, you can submit the request to support@interactivetools.com and I can send it to you through Email.

I hope this helps. If you have other questions please let me know.

thanks I received the listman_signup_addon via email yesterday.

I'm just wondering the differences.

Eric have you looked at the other script that Scott submitted from CorvetteTraderonline had submitted?

Why is the signup addon reccomended over adduser.dat.cgi? Especially if its not supported?

thanks,
Scott

HI Scott,

Thanks for the forum post Smile.

Both scripts aren't supported so there's no advantage either way. I recommend the signup script I sent you for two reasons:
  • It's coded by an interactivetools programmer.
  • It's been widely used in production websites for some time without issues.

Scott is an experienced web designer and valuable contributor to the forums here so if you want to use his script you can do that. Whatever suits you best is fine with me! Cool

If you have other questions please let me know.

Thanks for the reply Eric Cool.

I'm not trying to be an antogonist, just wondering what the differences are?

Any users have any feedback???

thanks,
Scott

Re: [websapien] listman_signup_addon_2.51 VS. adduser.dat.cgi [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Scott

I have had a chance to use both listman_signup_addon_2.51 and adduser.dat.cgi on the site I’m currently building.

I ended up going with Scott’s adduser.dat.cgi script.

I’d have preferred to use signup_addon_2.51 as it’s made by interactive, it also uses templates so it’s very easy to customise its appearance to that of the rest of the site. Unfortunately it lacks a lot of the features that Scotts script provides.

Some of the features that Scotts script provides that I have found invaluable and that interactive script can’t mach at this point are.

Automatic login once the user has registered

Email automatically sent to the user with a copy of their password and user name

Copy of this email sent to me as well, so I know when a new user has signed up.

The script is also well documented so I could get in there and make the changes I needed reasonably easily.

Thanks Scott for this script Smile I don’t know what I’d do without it.

Hi, I use Scott's adduser script on my site, modified slightly but I find it works great. I've never seen nor heard of the other one so I cannot comment.

I think this thread is great and it seems that either of these add on scripts would be great. I wanted to try the one that Scott created and followed the link, only to get a "page not found" error and when sending him an email, his contact form is down.

SO ....

Does ANYONE ELSE have a copy of scott's script or have a download link to it that works so that we can get it, install it, and test it out ... PLEAAAAASE? Wink

Thanks a bunch!

ACK! sorry... I was doing some maintenance and the folder was accidentally removed.

It's back and you should be able to get it now.

Hey everyone. See this post.

http://www.interactivetools.com/iforum/Products_C2/Listings_Manager_%28Realty_Manager_%26_Auto_Manager%29_F3/Sign_Up_Add-on_script._Disappearing_index_images_P31876/

Anyone else having this problem using the Signup Addon from Interactive Tools?

I like the email part of Scott's script, but I need the full name function of Interactive's script more.

Thanks, Deven

Hi there

Don't suppose anyone knows of any working examples of either script do they? Unfortunately all of Scott's sites are down as I write this.

Also, what I'm really after is a script that allows visitors to setup an account to advertise their property (having paid by card first) and allow them to add text, upload images, and generally maintain their advertisement. Do these scripts allow this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for posting.

I can't think of any examples off the top of my head, but the script does allow your users to sign up for an account on thier own so it sounds like it fits the bill for what you need.

Just send me an email to support@interactivetools.com and I can send the script out for you right away Smile
