Hi!

We actually have a free signup script that would allow to you to do almost precisely this. What you could do is this: for those clients that buy a subscription, you could (automatically?) send them a link to the signup script add-on. This would allow them to create their own accounts and start uploading their listings.

Email me back if you're interested in this possibility, and I'll post the script :-)

Hi!

Here's that zip file. :-)

It was actually written for Realty Manager, but it's entirely compatible with Auto Manager (I tested it out myself! :-) The zip contains instructions on how to install it - in a readme.txt file.

If you have any trouble with implementation or installation, just post me back! :-)

Hey again,

Awfully sorry - I only posted the .cgi file, instead of the full zip file containing the installation instructions and the two necessary templates.

Sorry for the confusion.

another question...

is it possible to make it so they can create a new account ONLY if their payment through paypal is approved? im not sure if the script you gave will do that. it seems to me like it will make anybody able to create an account.

thanks again!

What you are looking for is this:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/acc/ipn-info

That will alert the script to create an account for the user once they have successfully finished the Paypal transaction. It takes some setup, but - it can be done.

Very interesting!

Ordinarily I'd just suggest ONLY sending them the link to the signup script if the transaction goes through, but the above looks like a potentially better solution.

Re: [Benjamin] automanager and paypal? [In reply to] Can't Post

the IPN solutions works very well, I've used it for membership sites before.

I do have a question about the signup.cgi script though.

When the member gets added the script sets the user to "Never Expire" and "allow 50" listings. How do we make it expire in 1 year and limit of say 10 or 20 listings?

Hi WebSlinger,

Unfortunately there's no settings for that just yet. But I know it's on the update list for that particular add-on script. For the time being, I'm afraid those changes have to be made manually by the administrator.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

shouldn't it just be changes to the signup.cgi script where it is referencing the field(s)?

Something like that, yes. The script would have to be modified to configure those aspects of each account when setting up the account. As is, it's not written to do that.

It sounds like Jared might be the expert on this one... he did mention it took work to install.

Still around, Jared?
