New Signup Script add on... Can't Post

Hey all,

I'm looking to beta test my signup script with around 5 users. If you don't know, I'm using AutoManager for public AND dealer use which makes my need for email notification and automatic limits on whoever signs up, absolutely necessary. Some people here have expressed this need also so I figured I would see about making my script public.

These are the features I currently have working and I want to make sure that are easily configurable:
1) Customized email to the person signing up.
2) Automatic Login (when someone signs up, they are logged in automatically).
3) The ability to hide user listings before they are live/visible on your site.
4) Automatically notify you (or the webmaster) via email when someone has signed up.
5) Custom path to main exec file (am.cgi. admin.cgi, rm.cgi etc.)
6) Choose the # of listings the person signing up can have.
7) Set the expire date of the user to however long you want it in days (90, 365, etc.)
8) Set the access level of the person signing up.
9) Automatically display the IP address of the person signing up, and include that in the email that is sent.
10) Make someone agree to your terms of service before they signup.

This script was written to be easily editable throughout, even if you don't know PERL.

Let me know of you would be interested in beta testing it with me.

Thanks,
Scott

Hey Scott,

I don't know if you had any hits for your beta test, but I'd actually like to take it out for a test spin to see how it works. You can either post an attachement or email me directly at:

cliff@interactivetools.com

Thanks Scott, I hope to hear from you soon Smile

Re: [FrankFlorida] New Signup Script add on... [In reply to] Can't Post

I sent the script to both Frank and Cliff. I was quite suprised when no one responded to this post because I know alot of people have asked for these features in this forum. Anyway, it's available if anyone wants it.

I've been using it on both of my sites for months now without any problems.

Let me know how it works out.

Thanks!
Scott

Hey dedbob,

I am working on the same type of site where I allow both private and dealer listings. I would love to give your script a try and let you know how well it works.

Ok... I sent it to everyone listed above. I still haven't received much feedback about the script yet. Please let me know how it works for all of you. I'll post it as a free download add-on to anyone who wants it once I get the feedback and make needed changes

quick97@aol.com bounced for some reason. Do you have an alternate email address I can send it to?

Thanks!

OK.. So I am a late bloomer. <g>

I'd like to try your script too. Please send to me (if it's still available) to:

rozey@marketing-seek.com

Like you, I will be using the script for free/paid services. I need something that will handle automatic signups after payment, so that I don't have to be present to run the system.

Thanks in advance!

Re: [PaulHowe] New Signup Script add on... [In reply to] Can't Post

Well... I've only received 2 comments that wanted some changes and those changes have been made which were just clarifying the settings... the rest have been great reviews on it and many thanks.

Here's a link to the script... free of charge for anyone that may want it.
http://www.GetStacked.com/media/adduser.dat.zip

It's been tested on RM/AM 2.30 and Listings Manager 2.50/2.51 without error (thus far).

This script is offered as is, with no support (though I might help you out if you ask Wink ). Backup your user.dat.cgi file before using it because I'm not responsible for any problems that you may have by using it.

Thanks!
Scott

Re: [jasper] New Signup Script add on... [In reply to] Can't Post

Just wondering if anyone has successfully gotten this to work on a windows server? This is a great add-on and I have gotten it to work well except I cannot get it to send the emails after the user inputs data and clicks button. I know it is because I am running a windows server, but can't figure out how to get it to send the email on this OS.

If anyone has done this or could provide/direct me to some help with it, I would be really thankful.

Cheers

Brent,

I have tried researching this issue but I can't find any helpful information on the SMTP service (CDOSYS) offered by Windows 2003 Server. If someone could send me some info on how this service is used, like paths and such, I'll be glad to see what I can do.

Thanks,
Scott

Re: [dedbob] New Signup Script add on... [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Scott,

I finally have it working (sort of). Here is what I did for those who are interested.

I could not get your script to send an email successfully. In your script was code that automatically logs the user on. I changed this to direct my users to a welcome page instead. this page contains php code to send an email to the user and myself.

There may be a better way to do it, but this works fine for me.

Thanks for the great add-on Scott.

Super job Smile. Wonderful script and does alot more then what was out before. Since upgrading my auto manager the signup stop working and I was about to start making my own untill I found yours. 100% awesome work on this. Saved me and all of us much time. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Carextreme.com is my site and its installed but not working 100% yet cause im changing the whole layout on my site. But it does work and it works GREAT! Nothing I would change.

How about this for some feedback Wink

thanks,

Ron Jacobs

Hi,

I would also be interested. I am about to launch my site, first time using ListManager. This would handle many of my "to-do's".

My email is matt@fotanconsulting.com if you don't mind sending me a copy.

If so, I'll be sure to get back to you with feedback.

Thanks,

Matt
