Javascript Favorites

I've just launched a new LM site and wanted a favorites script but was put-off using favorites.cgi having read all the problems in this forum. I scoured the Internet and found a bit of javascript that took 10 minutes to install that works perfectly, and best of all is free. I customised it slightly for my site (changed it from Favorites to My Portfolio) and even that was a simple process of modifying the .js file. I have it working at http://www.eastcoastcaravans.co.uk/ and the script can be downloaded from http://www.tele-pro.co.uk/scripts/storeddocs/. If anyone decides to use it, I'd love to know what you think and of any mods. My site is new, so don't expect a great deal, but you can check the script out before downloading.

Hi pfhowe, Thanks so much for posting this! Looks like a much simpler method than the favorites script so it should be a great alternative Regards, Cliff Stefanuk - Customer Service Manager support@interactivetools.com

It looks great, I took a look. By the way, surfers will need to pick rentals, then search advanced, and choose all areas to see any listings, unless there is a better way you can point out! One question, though: Can a favorite be deleted. I see you can erase them all, but what about a single one?

Hi DesignGroup, Thanks for posting. I took a closer look at this add-on and it looks like it's all or none. I'm not much of a JavaScript guru myself but there may be a way to modify the file so that it does this for you. You may want to contact the author of the script to see if that is possible. Besides that, this is a pretty slick little add-on. Regards, Cliff Stefanuk - Customer Service Manager support@interactivetools.com

Hi, Cliff; It really looks nice. I am planning on trying it. And yes, I would pay the author for some kind of individual listing delete capability, for certain. I spent over 2 hours looking for an alternative, at Hotscripts, and the only one I can see so far is part of a "buy our 200 CGI scripts for $100" kind of deal. Typically those scripts are garbage. What I was thinking was using the Javascript favorites script (even though it has no individual delete) for bookmarking articles in Article Manager, in fact.

Hi DesignGroup, Thanks for the post! Let me know how this script works out for you with Article Manager, it'd be great to see this script being used on a few different types of sites. This would provide a great example of how it could be used in the future for people who would like to set up a "Favourites" section of their site. Let me know how it goes or if you have any other questions or comments! Cheers, Mike Briggs - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
