search.cgi overloading server?

Hey all, I own http://www.corvettetraderonline.com and I'm having a problem where my host says that I'm reaching my memory usage limit on their server. I'm getting tons of internal server errors (170 this month so far when I'm used to only about 20 mostly caused by me testing scripts) and I'm getting increasingly frustrated. I have already disabled database sorting, and I've shortened my links that run the script to a bare minimum and it's still happening. I only have 106 ads which I think is very small, even if I'm sorting the database by year or by price. My question(s): Is this happening to anyone else with these few listings? Are there any other suggestions you guys can throw out there for me? It looks like I'm going to need a new host at this point. If any of you have or know of a really good host at at decent price, please let me know who it is so I can sign up. I need the following things: 1. Shell access / Unix server 2. cgi-bin (of course). I need the cgi-bin to not be inside the public folder 3. Mod-Rewrite 4. The ability to do 15 gigs per month (I'm doing almost 14 now) 5. Email Autoresponders 6. access to sendmail 7. At least 5 pop email boxes. 8. the ability to park additional domains (preferably free) 9. Crontabs 10. mysql database 11. PHP4 12. SSI (server side includes) If any of you have any suggestions on what I can do to decrease the server load or of a good new host, I'm all ears. Thanks, Scott Need ImageMagick? GD.pm? Hi Dedbob, 106 listings is really very low. I'm surprised you're having this problem. You say that you've caused 20 of the internal server errors just testing the script? Good grief - I don't want to point fingers, but it does rather look like your server's not equipped to handle the script. Perhaps you could try asking them nicely if they could increase the memory allocated for Perl processes...? Perhaps a well-timed bribe might be in order...? ;-) Concerning hosting, you may want to have a look at the following forum post: http://www.interactivetools.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4506 This was started by Luke to get people to comment on their experience with hosting providers. It may prove useful. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Ben interactivetools.com

It seems that there is a problem on the server and my host is addressing it. Thanks to all that contacted me and offered hosting services, but I think I will remain with my current host, being that they're fixing the problem Thanks, Scott Need ImageMagick? GD.pm? That's really good to hear. May I ask, was it just a memory allocation problem or something more sinister...? Ben interactivetools.com
