is there a way the latest listings can show first ie in reverse numerical order

Yep,
Have a look on your template and you will find something like:<a class="links" href="http://www.realestategisborne.co.nz/cgi-bin/listman/exec/search.cgi?search=1&sort_order=11%2C123%2Creverse&perpage=5">Our Listings</a>
Note the word 'reverse' has been substituted for 'forward' in the bit of code: sort_order=11%2C123%2Creverse.
