alternate _publish_listing.html page Can't Post

Hi,
I have been breaking my head on this for a while now and I have to ask you guys for some help.

This is what I want to do.

I have created a featured properties page which works exactly as the tutorial explained. But now I would like the link that is on the featured property to call not the _publish_listing.html page but rather another one called _publish_listing_art.html which I have created. I added the link
a href="$search_url$?view=$listing_num$&template=_publish_listing_art.html" in hopes that the property would be loaded into that page but I just get an error saying
"Invalid template name: _publish_listing_art.html"

Can someone please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Hi Dan,

Chances are the file path to your custom template file is just a bit off - try using this code for the link value instead:

$search_url$?view=$listing_num$&template=/_realty/_publish_listing_art.html

Give that a shot and let us know if you still need some help with this. Smile

Unfortunately its still giving me the same error but with the url change you made.

Click on the date 12/06/2008 and you will see what happens.
I'sure it must be something small that has to be changed but I just can't see it.

Hi Dan,

If you go to Setup Options -> Server, and scroll down to "Publish Templates Directory" ... what do you have set there?

If you put your templates in the _realty directory, try changing that to:

../templates/_realty/

Let me know how that turns out. :)

Well I'm using the generic and it is set up like so:

../templates/_generic/

Could a permissions problem be causing this?

Hi Dan,

Try using this for your link instead - my example above was designed for the realty templates since you had mentioned properties in your original post:

<a href="$search_url$?view=$listing_num$&template=/_generic/_publish_listing_art.html">

Let us know how that works out. Smile

Wow this is weird eh. I still get the same message saying Invalid template name: /_generic/_publish_listing_art.html

I must be doing something wrong. Can you reread the first post I sent concerning this issue to be sure that what I did is ok. Maybe I am missing or skipping a step. Thanks a lot guys.

Re: [Dan Maitland] alternate _publish_listing.html page [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Dan,

Actually, since you've got the _generic path in the field in the back end, you don't need to include it in your URL, so the original link you had should work fine.

The next thing I'd doublecheck is that the _publish_listing_art.html file is actually inside the _generic directory -- since that's where you've told Listings Manager that your templates are located, you'll need to make sure all of your templates are in there.

Let me know how that works out. :)

Still the same error. I checked, double checked and tripple checked the link and its good. The _publish_listing_art.html file is actually inside the _generic directory so you are right it should work. Do you think it has anything to do with the fact that the featured items are in an include?

Hi Dan,

At this point, I think we might want to just switch this over to a support request -- that way we can pop in and see why that's not working the way it should. :)

You can fill this in here:
