admin.cgi Internal Server Error

I was able to install Listings Manager successfully and even set up some listings and agent profiles in the admin area. However, today I tried to log back into the admin area and I am receiving the following error: -------- Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, root@webshack.webshackdesign.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. -------- Any thoughts as to why the admin link would have worked right after the installation but suddenly is not working? (I can still pull up my listings and homepage pages without a problem.) Thanks!

Hi webshack, Usually this error is caused by permissions that are set incorrectly on your admin.cgi file, although it's a bit odd for this error to come up after you've already used the software successfully. What you'll want to do is check that your admin.cgi file has "755" permissions if you're on a Linux server, or Read/Execute if you're on a Windows server. If this doesn't resolve the issue, I'd recommend re-uploading the admin.cgi file to your server, and then setting the file permissions on it again to see if this solves the issue. Let us know if there's anything else we can help with. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

The permissions were set at 755 so I tried re-uploading the admin.cgi file and received the same error. All of the cgi files are giving me this error.

Hi webshack, One other thing that you could check is that the "exec" directory has 755 permissions assigned to it. If you still can't get this to work, send us a second-level support request with your FTP details and we'll take a look at this for you: http://www.interactivetools.com/support/ Don't hesitate to contact us! ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi there, I am installing the Realty Manager and am having similar problems. I go through the motions and run listman/exec/install.cgi. Everything is fine up to the page with the image - which I can see so I click Next. Then I get this error : Not Acceptable An appropriate representation of the requested resource /listman/exec/install.cgi could not be found on this server. I have checked and double checked the permissions and also re-uploaded the exec files as suggested. No luck though. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi ElizaDay, The error you're getting is caused by a security module on your server - take a look at this thread for a potential fix: http://www.interactivetools.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=59194;search_string=mod_security;t=search_engine#59194 If that doesn't work, you'll want to contact your hosting provider to let them know that mod_security or another security module on your server is interfering with the operation of one of your scripts. Let us know if you need anything else. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Great stuff. That worked a treat. NB. My Windows Explorer wouldn't allow me to change the name to .htaccess - giving the error I "must type a file name". The dot(.) was the problem. Once I uploaded the file and changed the name on the server it worked fine. Thanks.
