Would a search page have a url of it's own?

As you may or may not remember I am using RM on a site that sells Alpacas. The client has asked it we could set up a page with just all the Herd Sires (daddy alpacas), that she could update. At first I said no, but then I thought if that was a field in the listing Herdsire yes or no and we did a search looking for just herdsires, would the resulting page that came up be able to be a page on the site, meaning I could do the search, get the url of the results, then when someone was on the Alpaca site, and clicked the links for Sires-it would jump to the sire search results url?? Am I making any sense??

Hi Irishis, You're making total sense. Yes, what you've described is exactly how you'd do it. Simply copy and paste that specific search query URL into a page somewhere, making it into a link ['click here to see herdsires!']. It sounds like you're on top of this, but post me back if you need any pointers. And I'd love to see your site! I'm pretty sure using RM to host an Alpaca site is a first! Ben interactivetools.com

Hey Benjamin one more question about this thread, by virtue of the url I will use to post the resulting search page, will this automatically be pulling the most updated info...i.e. will it always be doing a search via the url and pulling the info or will this be the info from the url I posted initially without any new additions that might have come into play on that search. Still making sense??

Hey Irishis, Yup - still making sense. Yes, all queries to the search engine will dynamically return the listings - even ones you entered moments before. So even though you'd hardcoded the link to the search query, you don't have to worry about updating it - it'll always query the current database contents according to the details specified in that search URL. Heck, am I making sense..?! Ben interactivetools.com

Excellent, perfect sense from you and me! Course I'll get all this set up show it to the client and she'll poo poo it or something, but I like the direction this is heading, if I can just get the setup to work...see newer posts.
