Hi, You enable the WYSIWYG functionality for a particular listing field by going to Setup Options and then clicking "Setup Listing Fields". Then use the dropdown menus to enable WYSIWYG for a particular listing field. Let me know if you have any other questions. :-) Mike Roulston interactivetools.com

Hi, WYSIWYG textareas basically allow you to have richly formatted text in an HTML textarea box. So you can bold, italicize, underline, color, etc. text as you type it into the text area. Adding URLs is also very easy. There are tons of cool things about the WYSIWYG editor, and for more information, have a look at the following page: http://www.interactivetools.com/products/htmlarea/ I hope this helps, and please let me know if you have any additional questions. :-) Mike Roulston interactivetools.com

Listen I'm not seeing anything special when I enable it. Either it's not uploaded right or I"m dumb as a doorknob.

What browser are you using? The WYSIWYG editor in RM/AM only works in IE 5.5 or later on Windows. I suspect that you might be using a browser that doesn't support the WYSIWYG functionality. Mike Roulston interactivetools.com

Hey there... When you go to the online demo of htmlArea, do you see anything special there? Or is it just a plain textarea box? http://www.interactivetools.com/products/htmlarea/index.html#demo -Donna Donna

Well, that would explain something. :) htmlArea has backwards compatibility built in so that if you don't have JavaScript enabled or if your browser doesn't understand it, it'll revert back to a regular textarea. So, the next question is... what browser are you using? :) Donna Donna

To verify that you have JavaScript enable in IE 6, click Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom Level... And scroll down to the bottom of the list where it says "Scripting", and under the subheading "Active Scripting" make sure "Enabled" is selected. Mike Roulston interactivetools.com

The version of the WYSIWYG editor that is included with RM/AM is compatible with IE 5.5 or higher on Windows, so if you're using IE 6 and have JavaScript enabled, I'm stumped as to why it's not working for you. The WYSIWYG editor on the following page: http://www.interactivetools.com/products/htmlarea/ ... works just fine on my browser (IE 6 on Windows) and I haven't heard of any other issues lately about anyone having problems with it (using a supported browser). This sounds like it's a browser issue on your end... But unfortunately I'm completely out of suggestions about what might be causing this. Hopefully someone else might be able to chime in with some input about what might be happening here. Mike Roulston interactivetools.com

Well i just recently moved to a new server, and i have 2 images folders i made....being the dumbbutt i am, I put it in the wrong images folder . Now my thumbnails wont work! I have a idea..Yuo fix mine, i fix your lol....only if it was that simple i guess! Just make sure your htmlare is in am/images dir. Also, if you changed the am to another name, you might need to change that in the js....i was reading that in the readme area....best of luck, cause it was killing me also!

I did my install right into the CGI-BIN directory. I do not have a subfolder created. Is this a problem?

that's the problem! woot, now we can fix it! This is not supposed to be in the cgi area, this is supposted to be in the html area. When you log into your server, do not click on the cgi-bin, go to www or where ever your main index is. Then click am or if you re-named it, then click images, then just drag and drop the htmlarea folder into the images dir...So it should look like this: am/images/htmlarea You do need a subfolder! Let me see if this works, and i'm sorry im not a good teacher...if you did not understand something, just ask again...im hard to understand on the internet.

MAGSGQ, didn't you mention that you weren't seeing the WYSIWYG editor when you visit the following URL using IE 6? http://www.interactivetools.com/products/htmlarea/index.html#demo If the WYSIWYG editor is not showing up for you when you visit that page, then this problem is with your browser, not necessarily with your RM installation.
