What's the difference between a text box and a text field. I'm working on setting up the fields for my database and I'm not clear what the difference is.

Hi SoundSailor, Welcome to the forums! A textbox is actually a textarea -- basically, a larger, multiline area that you can fill in more information. A textfield is good for adding short bits of text no more than a few words long (for example, like the Subject field on these forums) whereas a textbox is better used for longer descriptions or entries (such as the actual body of a post on these forums). I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. :) Donna

Thanks Donna: Since I'm a newbie where Realty Manager is concerned I hope you don't mind if I offer an observation. The documentation while adequate for a very basic first pass, really doesn't offer much in the way of guidance for more advanced customization. Since I'm working on customizing Realty Manager for a commercial real estate firm, most of the standard elements don't apply. It would be useful if a more in depth manual was developed perhaps in a pdf format.

Hi SoundSailor, We do appreciate your remarks. Having a PDF version of our documentation has been batted around from time to time, but in all honesty there are no immediate plans to create them. Rewriting and adding aspects of the documentation is probably more important, so PDF would come second. But for the moment, there's a few other information sources available to you. First, there's a few tutorials which are fairly general in nature, so hopefully apply for a wide variety of cases. Secondly, there's the forum - there's been a lot of questions asked here, and a lot of solutions! Feel free to ask anything you like here: we're always around to help :-) And of course, you're always welcome to call us up or email us. But again - thanks for your comments; I've passed them along.
