Rollovers Can't Post

Hi all

Funny problem I'm having with rollovers, dunno if this has been covered before in the forums.

I use Dreamweaver to develop but im careful to check code a lot, but I use the built in swap image function.

I have created a results page with a details button, the rollover works perfectly on the template file locally, but the results page (produced by RM) refuses to show the rollover.

Is there something in the CGI that kills the java? Im a bit stumped

Site is http://www.villassist.com/varm/exec/search.cgi

Any ideas?

Re: [leeshields] Rollovers [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Lee,

No - the JavaScript would be independant of the cgi, so that wouldn't cause any problems. Which links in that page are supposed to work as rollovers? Has the problem been sorted out?

Post me back! :-)

No I havent sorted it yet, very odd though

I know the CGI shouldnt mess with it but ive removed and redone the rollovers a few time to no avail

Strange, next step it to check over my CSS etc perhaps but like I say it works perfectly locally before its uploaded.

BTW the Details buttons should rollover

Hi Lee,

Which is the Details button? The "Villas", "Apartments", "Javea" and those beneath it all seem to work. Sorry for not following! :-)

On the results pages

OK to put it to the test

http://www.villassist.com/varm/templates/_search_results.html

thats the template file, rollover works fine

http://www.villassist.com/varm/exec/search.cgi?lfield3_keyword=Moraira&search=1&perpage=8&sort_order=5%2C123%2Cforward&marknew=7&euro_numbers=1&search=%2B%2BSearch%2BListings%2B%2B

that will give you an actual result

No rollover, the only difference is its been through the CGI then. Ive tried absolute links etc cant find anything wrong

It also doesnt work on the full listings index

On the actual search page itself rollovers work fine

Bizarre

Re: [leeshields] Rollovers [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Lee,

Thanks for the clarifier. The reason it doesn't work is because you have multiple Details buttons, and that confuses the JavaScript. The JavaScript needs to be able to uniquely identify a rollover image in order to function properly.

For example, try this search:http://www.villassist.com/varm/exec/search.cgi?lfield3_keyword=Benissa&lfield5_min=%80500.000&lfield5_max=%801.000.000&lfield9_min=2&lfield9_max=&lfield10_min=&lfield10_max=&lfield8_keyword=Villa&shownew=&lfield2_keyword=&search=1&perpage=8&sort_order=5%2C123%2Cforward&marknew=7&euro_numbers=1&search=++Search+Listings++

That retrieves ONE listing, and the JavaScript runs fine.

In terms of solutions... urgh. It's certainly possible, but would take some work...! You don't have a handy JavaScript programmer stashed away in a closet somewhere...?

Re: [Benjamin] Rollovers [In reply to] Can't Post

Right I get it, you know id played around with the identifiers as I was a bit suspect but it never crossed my mind the CGI was repeating the same rollover information hence repeating the identifier

There is a simple solution which is to do a flash graphic instead of a java rollover, I guess it should work, and allow some imagineative buttons, but I was trying to aviod flash in the main search areas

Its an option

Thanks for helping me with that!
