Published listing URL

Is there anyway to change the lower case (l) to a capital (L) when LM publishes a listing? Example: whatever/rm/listings/l0001.... The lower case (l) looks like a 1? Or possibly change to any other letter?

Hi Diz, This naming scheme is hard-coded into the software, so there isn't really any way that it can be changed. Let us know if you have any other questions. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Jake, Thank you for your reply. Am I the first to make mention of this? Direct marketing of each and every listing has never been more crucial, I would think this would make it very difficult to advertise the URL from _publish_listing.html with this scenario? You know if you replace the (l) with a (L) it will return an error correct? Any ideas around this?

Hi, Thanks for the post! As Jake mentioned, there isn't anyway that you'll be able to change this format. I'm curious as to what the benefit would be in this case of using a capital "L" and how you were hoping to market these listings. Each listing still has it's own URL and you should be able to direct people to specific listings if you'd like and you could even add an "Email to a Friend" link that will allow visitors to email the URL of a listing to someone else. If you can provide me any other details about this I'd be happy to take a look at that for you. Thanks! Cheers, Mike Briggs - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

If you publish a direct link into newspapers, direct mail or any other form of off-line marketing to direct traffic to this exact listing nu using it's direct address, clients won't be able to discern rm/listing/l0009.php, they mistake the lower case (l) for a 1, 9 out of 10 times. I understand I can create a field, enter a number, allow keyword search, just like MLS# search query for exact listing display. I was hoping the link could be made clearer by replacing the lower case (l) with something easier to distinguish in ads for home owners.

Hi Diz, Another thing you could do for direct links rather than using a MLS keyword, or something similar, is to use the search engine's "view" function. This works off of the record number (like the static URLs do) and this would mean that the URL to view listing 123, for example, would look like this: http://www.yoursite.com/listman/exec/search.cgi?view=123 I hope this helps!
