Listing display in editor

I built a listing site for someone who sells golf carts and accessories. I was able to modify the search function to display the carts and accessories seperately, but now I would like to modify the listing editor so each item has a unique name. Currently, when you open the editor, you see a list of accessories and carts, but they are all named "accessory" or "cart" with no way to tell which is which. Is there an easy way to accomplish this? Or maybe not so easy?? Thanks up front for any help. I LOVE the program!! Ken Hughes PKH Services Hartsville, SC

Hi Ken! Whichever listing you have set as the first one will be what shows up in the Listing Editor. So, switch one of the more descriptive fields to be the first one listed (via the setup options), and that should fix that up for you. :) Donna

Hi Donna. Thanks for the quick reply. That would work except for one thing. The way I set up the database was so the client could use the same form for both carts and accessories (couldn't figure out any other way to do it). So, depending on if they want to input one or the other, they specify that as the first field, then fill out the other fields appropriately. For instance they might want to input a 'cart', then they fill in fields 2,3 4 and 5 with appropriate info. But if they say 'accessory' they would fill in fields 6, 7 and 8. This allowed me to use the same input form for both items, because I never could figure out how to have two input forms. Works great, because I set up the search engine to look at the first field and then display the proper fields in the listing. But I can't do what you say because I can't have different fields as the first display choice. Or, can I? Would it do any good for you to look at the setup? Ken Hughes PKH Services Hartsville, SC

Hi Ken, You might want to take a look at this post, which outlines some steps to add additional fields to the main index of your listing entries in the admin side of the software: http://www.interactivetools.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=42730#42730 Let us know if you need anything else. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Jake & Donna, thanks for the nudge in the right direction. I solved the problem! After seeing Donna's solution, it dawned on me that I really didn't need to use two different fields to describe a cart or an accessory. So, I changed the order to show the "cart" field first, and can now just give the item a name that shows up in the editor. Appreciate you pointing me down the right road. (I STILL love the program!)
