Just Starting LM Can't Post

Newbie here,

From a previous post:

Question: Is there a way to add a next page link to a listing page? It would be nice if users did not have to back to a results page or the index page to navigate through listings.
Answer: Search results pages will have next and previous links by default, however this isn't possible to do on the main listing index page. If you require this functionality, you can link to an 'empty' search instead of the index page. That way all results are returned using the search engine which in turn enables the next and previous links.

Question #1: How do you create pages and links using the search results page as oppossed to the listings homepage? I have used Realty Manager before, but I have never experimented with the "search" stuff. I have about 300 products I would like to display them using approximately 20 categories (html links). My problem is that I will only be able to store 3 listings per page. This is why I will need the "next" and "previous" links.

Question #2: Is is possible to create "next" and "previous" links on the listings details page as well? This way users will not have to start over if they are 10 products into a category. Does this make sense?

Question #3: I have only 4 small details about each product, therefore redundant info would be placed on the listing details page. Instead, would it be possible to setup the listing details page to display the larger image of the product?

Sorry about all the questions. I just want to start off on the right foot.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated Smile

Thanks in advance!

Jon

Next/previous links are always generated for search results pages (the main listing index page actually does not have these links). You don't really need to do anything special for these since there should already be code for them on the default template files.

There isn't any way to do this - the software just has no way to know what page it should go to next in that context.

I'm not sure I understand your question, but you don't have to display any fields on the listing pages that you don't want to. You just need to erase them from the template file.

It's possible to set up a larger image on your listing detail pages. Instead of using the default image code on the "_publish_listing.html" template, which displays the thumbnail image with a link to the larger version, you could use this:

Code
<!-- templatecell : image -->
<p><img src="$listing_url$/images/$file$" border=1 alt="Photo"><br>
<font face="ms sans serif" size=1>$desc$</font><br>
<!-- /templatecell : image -->
